Lighting Candles for Pit bulls

Get out yer hankie!
I never get over the strong urge to vomit when I see pit bull advocates organize a candlelight vigil for dogs.  They don't seem to care about the victims, not one candle is lit in their memory.  Perhaps a better use of symbolic energy would be for a vigil to promote better fences for pit bulls.  You know, more pit bulls are shot by police for posing a real threat to public safety than have been killed through BSL.

This vigil has it's own original tear jerking song!  Get out yer hankie!

This is a car window memorial that was created for BAM BAM, a pit bull that mauled a letter carrier. BAM BAM was sent across "the Rainbow Bridge" to "Doggie Heaven" for a higher purpose called "public safety", for expressing his D.N.A. on a postal worker who was delivering mail. 4 feet of chain link is simply not enough to prevent what pit bulls try to do to postal workers on an almost daily basis. Let us all say a little prayer to keep all postal workers safe from pit bulls, that someday, we will pass laws so that will deem four foot chain link fences to be woefully inadequate for keeping pit bulls. No candles were lit for this and the many postal workers who have been injured or killed by dogs, most of them, pit bull types

Lennox the pit bull type mutt has a perpetual vigil in his honor. Candlelight vigils, marches, and even death threats to public officials countless facebook pages and petitions, didn't save him.  There still remain perpetual vigils for this dog, too many and easily found to list.  He now has his own meme, you can purchase some "I am Lennox" merchandise, his martyrdom has been very lucrative for the Anti-BSL cause.

Most people are just too lazy to do any research why this dog was seized in the first place, and to learn that American Bull dog mixes are indeed pit bulls, banned in the United Kingdom.

Then of course, there is DADDY, Mr. Millan's guru pit bull, who passed away of old age.  I have read of candlelight vigils, but alas I have found no images to capture the event.  I love it when a entrepreneur does a real sacrifice.....er..... makes their own big break....finds a marketing opportunity and gleans on the situation, to promote their work.  I think this painting would have looked nicer had it been done on black velvet.

On Monday, January 31, Mr. G was able to present Cesar with the portrait and perform a traditional Maori Haka ceremony that his culture performs to commemorate special, momentous events in life, from welcoming a baby into the world and honoring a person of importance to final respects for the deceased. The haka is a combination of powerful body movements and stomping of the feet accompanied by a rhythymic series of chants and shouts.

Nonetheless, there is this account on Mr. Milan's blog, of a traditional Maori Maka ceremony performed in the pit bull's honor.   I hope they filmed it, and that we will get to see it on an upcoming episode of Dog Whisperer, that's with two "R"s, grrrr.

Here are some more accounts of vigils for pit bulls.  Still none for the victims of them.  I KNOW more animals have been needlessly slain by pit bulls, than will ever be slain via humane euthanasia due to BSL policy.  Build better fences.

  3. Pit bull humaneiacs appeared at this event in Wildside Kennels hats... this is a dog fight operation... are they stating that they support dogfighting? Have they ever lit a freaking birthday candle in rememberance of a single pit bull victim? Easy answer.. nope.
