I Believe in Pit Bulls

 Zealotry Artifact

There is no such thing as pit bulls, but I believe in them.

I've seen them with my own eyes.

I don't believe that little bloody movie will ever go away,
It plays over and over again,
Of the day the pit bull like beast broke through my wrought iron gate,
Who would have Believed it!

I believe that they are dangerous, that they should be regulated
So that idiots like this don't own them.
I believe that the well meaning like these,
are the absolute worse enemies of the pit bulls.

I also believe this is evidence of a leash law violation.

I believe that those retractable leashes are a very bad idea, in any case.

It's Witchcraft!

Once upon a time, back in the days when everyone wanted to ban Doberman Pincers.......

Oh wait, this isn't a fairy tale.  It's a true story!
October 31, 1982 (The Tuscaloosa News)

Not coven of witches in custody fight....
Pit bulldogs convinced judge

Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles - It was not the coven of 13 lesbian witches that bothered the commissioner.  Or the books on witches and the preparation of "psychedelic mushrooms."  Or the  "mummified human" called the "Indian lady."  Or the wall-sized tapestry of the Medusa-headed "lizard lady" or even the five-pointed star called a witch's pantagram (pentagram).

It was the five pit bulldogs that convinced Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Robert a. Schnider Friday to grant temporary  custody of a 2-year-old Purdy Tran to her Vietnamese father, Tuan a. Tran, 37, a professor of anatomy.

The little girl has been living with her mother, Laura Tran, 26, a chiropractor and several other women in a 5,839 square-foot mansion shrouded by weeds and plants six feet high in nearby Altadena, since Friday, Aug. 13.

Henry James Moehler IV, a lawyer for United Fathers of America Inc. who specializes in father's custody claims, sought the temporary custody for the father who feared the child was in danger. Koehler said Schnider,  who considered his temporary order in a short closed-door session, was reluctant to "judge anyone's lifestyle" in such a hasty court proceeding, and based his ruling solely on the presence of the dogs.

Mrs. Tran, who sued her husband for divorce last Aug. 5 acting as her own attorney, did not appear in court to contest the action.  A full court hearing on the custody matter will be conducted in about three weeks.

"I'm delighted, "Koehler said.  "He (Schnider) made his decision on the imminent danger to the child and not on somebody's lifestyle.  That is absolutely correct.  A very thorough piece of work that he did here."

These days of course, it's a new lifestyle to impose imminent danger to children,  and it's the rage!

Tran declined to talk with reporters.

Among six sworn declarations presented to Schnider detailing the child's forced lifestyle was one by Los Angeles Sheriff's Lt. Daniel Burt, an expert on dog-fighting investigations, who said a pit bulldog could be provoked to attack by a child's "normal squealing or screaming."

Once attacked, he said, a small child would normally thrash about, driving the dog "into a frenzy almost like that of a feeding shark."

"Due to my years of contact with and study of the pit bull,"  Burt stated, "I can say, without qualification, that I would not permit a child to be in the presence of or in contact with the dog without immediate and constant adult supervision."

Declare that today, and you will be called a HATER or a NAZI!

Investigators and friends reported that the Altadena mansion was guarded by one pit bulldog, Tantra (a Hindu name supposedly emphasizing female sexual power), inside the house, and four others in the backyard.

I wonder what a pit bull named Tantra could possibly symbolize for a bunch of lesbian witches....
not that there is anything wrong with that.....

"The court finds that living in a residence containing pit bulldogs poses a significant danger to the minor child, " Schnider wrote in his brief order, "And expressly bases its order on that finding and not on the various other allegations...."

But it was expressly those allegations that conjured up visions of Halloween.  A babystiter and two famliy friends - all women -provided the sworn descriptions of the mummy, tapestry, pantagram (a star-like figure used by witches), fearful paintings and books on witchcraft and mushrooms they saw in the house.

Stephen C. Wood, a private detective hired by Tran and Koehler to investigate the child's habitat, stated in court documents that witches normally have "satanic servants" such as the dogs to guard secret areas.  He said his research also showed that Satan tries to reclaim the earth every 28th year, that 1982 is a 28th year of the repeating cycle and that Sunday, Halloween, is the date when Satan's powers are strongest.

And Lo and Behold, it seems that these furry "satanic servants" have come to power, and as of 2010, they are taking over the earth.

"There are references," Wood stated, "to witches sacrificing children during their ceremonies."

I'm going to get you my little pretties,
And your little dog too!

Since then, many children, postal workers, little old ladies walking down the street, well meaning bleeding heart types who missed their chance to march for civil rights, little yappy dogs, cats, horses, sheep, marine mammals, and yes, even goats, who used to be the symbol of Satan himself...have been sacrificed to the Nanny Dog.  According to this, the next cycle will end in 2038.

In the end, very happy to report, likely due to the wisdom of the judge listening to the advice of Lt. Daniel Burt, little Purdy grew up and became a strong,  beautiful, altruistic feminist. She was crowned the 80th Rose Queen of Pasadena.  As far as we know, she is living happily ever after, and resides in a city where pit bulls are banned.

Many thanks to VINTAGE, this little blip on the tedious seemingly never-ending-miles-long-list-of- -child-sacrifice- to-the-Nanny Dog, lives reduced to centimeters of text by pit bulls.  This one stood out like a sore thumb, and deserved to be given its own shrine and alter at the First Church of Pit Bulls.

To all of those souls reduced to  a few lines of text, who are now memory and star dust, we will not forget you.  Almost every day it seems, a new name is added to the list.  We will tell your stories.  Maybe one day, the world will listen and learn the lesson.

Prayers for Pit Bulls

Pit Bulls inspire prayer.  I know, when I see one, I pray to the Lord God Jehovah to protect me, but just in case, there's pepper spray and a knife.

On the other side, pit bull enthusiasts are praying that we don't judge their dogs, and that we would be nice and open our hearts.  They don't get the fact, that we are tired of their dogs opening hearts in the way of opening veins for extreme blood lettings.

Courage, Love, and Try....is that what it's called?

This one inspired a spoof!

There are no prayers offered to inspire pit bull owners everywhere to be responsible, to build better fences, to keep them away from children, to not run away when their dog mauls.

There are no prayers for the pit bull advocacy to stop lying.
If pit bull enthusiasts were really truthful, their prayers would go more like this:

"Dear God, save my pit from city Hall!
I can only love dogs with a talent to maul!
My tattoos aren't enough to shout to the World to FU!
'Though I got me a record, I need a pit  too.
I ain't got no insurance, and the fence ain't what it aught,
I just pray should my dog go all pit,
that I won't ever be caught!

Luna the Praying Pit bull.  She's kind of a dud, but at least at this point, she's praying and not preying.
Protect me from my pit bull, or I don't like my freckles and I have issues 'bout that.......

Sucipe!

One last prayer.
Thank you Father - Mother God

For setting my spirit free

Now my eyes are closed

But one day I will see
My earthly Mother nourishes usWith food and with love

We know we are blessed

By a graceful God above
I love my brothers and my sisters

We are a happy pack

We hope we get a happy home

As we know we won't be back
We pray for one who will love usAs we have so much love to give
We hope some of us will stay togetherAnd all will stay in touch

The peace we feel from our Mother

We love so very much
Then one by one we're taken

Away from the pack

Now my time has come

And there's no looking back
I must be brave and happyCause that's what I want to be

Hopeful that where I'm going

There's another family
This is the day I was waiting forWhen I was set free from God

But now I'm tied up all alone

In some place called a yard
I miss my Mom and hunger

For her love and for her food

But I must go on without her

Just sit here and be good
Then one day I'm takenTo meet some other dogs
Tho' they're all Pit Bulls

They're not from my pack

I wanted to be friends

But they just wanted to attack
They were Bully dogs

Bred to fight

And fighting's what they do

I couldn't let them feel my fright

Now I'm a Bully too
You took me to that wild packFor the sake of some sick thrill

I pray to God I won't go back

To the dogs you want me to kill

If you would look into my eyes
You would see yourself in me

But you can't hear my silent cries

Of longing to be free
Still I will love and protect you

No matter what you do
The time has come to fight againAnd I must go into the ring
My heart is pounding like a drumI pray this fight will end
When you look into my eyesYou will see I'm the same as you

For until my Angel hears my cries

I'm a Bully too.

God Created E-Coli and fleas too.

The Road to Hell is paved with Good Intentions

It was a sad story.  It became a story of hope.  It then became an inspirational story of hope for the entire human race.   Then truth came out, and it didn't end happily ever after.  Good news, the rescue angel doesn't have egg on her face, because she's nice.  Or IS she....

There is an altruistic woman who apparently volunteers for the much maligned City of San Bernardino Shelter in her free time and on weekends.  It was she who took a photo, what was a sad farewell or perhaps a manipulative grifting act that she fell for.   She's not one of those jaded people who think about things beyond the moment or what the ramifications of doing a good deed may be.  She's got that wonderful quality of empathy.

She took a photo, and sent the story of the "poor man", with only six bucks in his pockets, not enough to bail his dog out of doggie jail. The man, it turns out, had a run in with the evil City of San Bernardino police, who took him in on unpaid traffic violations. There was no one to pick up the pit bull mix, possessing no license, but sporting a set of testicles (against City of San Bernardino policy)  the pooch was taken to the City Shelter.  Little was know about the man, rumored to be "Christopher".

I witnessed this man sitting at the kennel of his dog, weeping.

He could not afford the fees to get him out.

The shelter has the dog listed a coming in as a stray, but I overheard the man saying the officer who brought his dog in, knew he belonged to him.

I wished I could have helped him.

So she sent this story to the Examiner, and it became a search to find the man.   It went viral.

After great effort to find the man, who wasn't picked on by the evil police department, rather

Police said they followed protocol in having animal control officers take the dog to the shelter because Thomas and a woman he was with were both arrested and no one was available to take the animal.

Police Lt. Paul Williams said Thomas was suspected of possessing drugs for sale. Thomas claims he was arrested because he failed to show up to court for speeding tickets.

"He wasn't arrested for speeding tickets," Williams said. "He was arrested for a felony crime."

charge HS11378 SUPERIOR COURT OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO .... Possession/Sale of Methamphetamine, in violation of Section HS 11378

Thomas said he had marijuana when he was arrested, but he showed reporters paperwork on Tuesday indicating he's a medical marijuana patient.  That explains the Cheetos.

Thousands of well wishers from about the country landed on the San Bernardino Sun page, and they did this happy follow up story.  SAN BERNARDINO - It's a story that has generated hundreds of dollars in donations, a job offer and even a marriage proposal. And also a few barks.

At the root of this whole remarkable story, is the what it represents, altruism.  This sort of kind sacrifice and empathy is absolutely a  positive hallmark of the human condition, and it's necessary. But are we really so naive to think that altruism almost always selfless?  In fact, there is much to gain from doing good, from the good feelings anonymous donation generates, to blaring it out with trumpets that we donated $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity. Or Best Friends.  And we rescued a pit bull from a fighting ring.

What is the dark side of altruism, the dirty truth?   We do it for the expectation for rewards and for building self-esteem. Are we nice to our ungrateful children, because we need them to take care of us in the end.  Do we buy Girl Scout Cookies from the boss's daughter, because we are ambitious?  Do we save the pit bulls, because we want everyone to know, we are nice and we care about the maligned, and we need people to know we are kind, we need praise and to be told over and over again, you are kind.   We do to the kind expectation for rewards,  for building self-esteem.

Several researchers have suggested that some altruistic behaviors have egoistic motivations, such as the desire to gain rewards such as praise and self-satisfaction, or the desire to avoid punishments such as condemnation and self-censure.  It's also shown that do-gooders suffer from codependency

Saberi Roy further explained in The Psychology of Altruism, of a kind of religious feeling we get by doing something greater than ourself.  In this day and age, it's an expression of an existentialistic crises.

Selflessness thus is just that, we want to be greater than what we are, we want to be philanthropic because we want to move beyond the traps of material possessions. The same feeling of selflessness which is found in all of us to a certain degree is also found in missionaries, spiritual leaders or even political leaders to a greater extent because selflessness is a defense against our own insignificance and our own mortality defined by material existence. Of course, I will not move into philosophy here, and sticking to psychology altruism is about a desire to be loved by others and a stage in which there is empathy. In strictly psychoanalytic terms 'transference' and 'counter-transference' are terms that define the relationship between the patient and the psychotherapist when one understands the feelings of the other. Although psychoanalyst Jung focused on a possible altruistic behavior in spirituality, he still suggested that self seeking may be present, yet according to Jung we seek a balance in energy systems. Considering this a little further, altruism, philanthropy or benevolence may be our unconscious desire to seek balance in ourselves and in the world.

To illustrate the point, let's consider the opposite, well stated in  The Psychology of Altruism, by Roberto Diego.

Consider the opposite thought, if you aren't an altruist (heaven forbid that anyone would not want to be an altruist), what does that make of you?  In their, the altruists’ minds, it makes you a person deserving of frowns and anger and hatred and ridicule; an outsider, a rugged individualist, crude, unrefined, unintelligent, uneducated – it makes you a BAD PERSON of low values, scandalous, evil, worthy of hate and a hater of man, a person who is looked down upon and who must be converted and educated into thinking the right way – the right way being that you must realize that to be a good person you must put others first – is there a more cynical view of man than altruism, the philosophy that says YOU do not matter but OTHERS do, that your life should be a constant struggle to help THOSE who hate YOU?  Try to build self-esteem on that.  What does that do psychologically to a person trying to live according to reason; a young person struggling to understand what it means to look in the mirror?

Of course, this kind of philosophy falls right out the window when we learn from the airline stewardess that we need to put the oxygen mask first if we can be any help to anyone else.    Consider that, when you want to help a seeming homeless man who has a pit bull, and not enough money to bail it out of the pound. Maybe it's better for the dog that he get the opportunity for a better owner?  God's will?

Consider what the consequences may be, putting a high risk breed back into the hands of an irresponsible person.  This person shouldn't have so much as a cacti.
Then,  while going down the road of good intentions,   this sweet angel ends up on the corner of "D" and Baseline.  San Bernardino is such a lovely place.   She doesn't know the town very well by her own admission.

I just got a phone call from KTLA channel 5. Apparently, Dave has called to inform them that I am keeping the money raised for his dog. I have transferred $842.07 into my bank to reimburse myself for the shelter fees, vet and PetSmart shopping spree that I put onto my personal credit card. I had a discussion regarding the remainder of the donations and how he would like to spend them. I said it would be a good idea to pay off any outstanding tickets so that he will not be taken to jail in the future for having a warrant for unpaid traffic tickets. I asked if he had any bills that were due at the time. I told him that every dime that was donated would go to him and Buzz, but that I would not be giving him the cash. I explained to him that the money that was donated was a blessing for him, I wanted to be sure that we respected that and used the donations responsibly. He sat next to me and nodded his head, Not one response, question or concern.

After I hung up with KTLA channel 5, I tried to call Dave. His wife would not let me speak to him. She screamed at me that I was stealing their dog’s money. She said they have called the news stations and that if I did not give them their money, they were going to call the police.

I am exhausted from this entire experience. This is the last thing I needed or expected. I will not be giving Dave or his wife one single penny, what I will do is refund the money that was donated to Dave. I have had my life and the lives of my children devastated by drug addiction. I will play no part in supporting anyone’s habit. I just can’t.

So this angel decided to go public with her good deed, in the end, she will still reap what she sowed. (this glowing blog and examples of the seeming thousands of notes pasted on her page):

Maria I just sent you an email and found your page so I can give youa needed hug , it,s okay sweety , you are loved
I have been following your story and feel compelled to write you. I am so glad that there are people like you in the world and hope that you don't allow Dave Thomas's greed to dishearten you or change your outlook in any way. After all it's thanks to him that I now feel like donating money to YOU and YOUR cause to do with as you see fit. Thank you for all that you do for those poor dogs. Please let me know how I can send you money. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels compelled to help further your cause. I can't let this story ruin my faith in humanity and so I chose to do what's right and reward YOU for all that you do. Thank you!!!! Keep up the amazing work! :)
Bless your beautiful heart Maria. The world needs more people like you. All the love from Manila, Philippines. :)

Blah blah blah X 1,000.
I can't help but think had she taken the advice of Jesus to heart:

Matthew 6:2-4 (New King James Version)

2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

If she would have just taken the man aside and advised him to adopt the dog, there would have been no punitive fees, just the cost of adoption (which includes the license and a microchip)  and a substantially reduced fee for neutering and shots.  Of course, the evil San BernardinoCity Shelter may have not let this dog go to a man with no home (if that is the case) or a criminal record, and an off leash violation.

Instead, she played a loud trumpet solo.

And then this reprise:

I got a ticket for making an illegal left turn in a city I am not familiar with, (which may explain why she doesn't see the problem of pit bulls belonging to homeless drug users.)  I was side swiped leaving the homeless shelter tonight after doing the interviews with the news stations. A witness to the accident (thank God he was there) said a car passed him at a high rate of speed. He watched her try to pass me on my right hand side, instead she hit a parked car, bounced off my car and spun until she knocked over a stop sign and came to a stop on the curb. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I am a bit sore and shaken up, but I drove away from the accident. Someone or something kept me safe tonight! I am so thankful for whatever it was. This is why people should be nice to each other, you get good karma. For the rotten people that were on this thread calling me a scammer and worse…you need to take a good look at yourself in the mirror. WHO HURT YOU?

How nice. She does nice things for good Karma.

From what I can gleen from the information, Buzz Lightyear, now lives with his drug using owner in a homeless shelter.  NICE

This is SOME story, here's another blog about it!

The Book of Numbers

In all of the religions of the worlds, numbers often hold a mystical and symbolic meaning.    Are there mysteries written in the stars that numbers, ratios, and proportions can reveal? The Holy trinity.  The Five Pillars of Islam.  The laws of beauty governed by the Fibonacci sequence. Then there is the number of the beast...666.  Is that the number of the pit bull and what it represents?

In the Judeo/Christian Bible, there is the fourth book,  The Book of Numbers.  It's so called, because it begins with a census.  It's an account of 40 years of wandering in the desert because of  disobedience, lack of faith and stubbornness.  Isn't that US?  We don't look at the numbers, we refuse to listen to logic, and we are having a very difficult time traveling the short distance from Egypt to Israel.  Who do we bow to....what is good for the public, or what is good for a certain breed of savage dog?   How many people will be maimed and will be killed on our journey to get there?

Numbers are also cold and stoic, unlike words they transcend time and space.  They appeal to what is rational, we seek them to answer problems, to solve difficulty, to design and plan and envision a better world.  Isn't that the goal of humanity and civilization?  We have those who are keeping score at our arm chair, those of us who had a collision with the "game of chance",  and we have the actuarial scientists who
compile the numbers and we use them to make policy.  Policy for humanity, to create a more civil and just world.   Those numbers are speaking.  This is a list of numbers compiled for pit bulls.

I think it reads clearly..the number is up, and it equals ENOUGH!

Wallowing in the Mire: 2 Peter 2:22

Pit Bull rescues must attract quite a few grifters, after all, how many people cut from reputable fabric would peddle the wares of the dogmen?    It seems that a pit bull advocacy by the name of Hello Bully, a national non-profit dedicated to improving the reputation of pit bulls, will now need to repair its own reputation due to the grifting activities of a 25 year old man named Jesse James Gasior.  Well, I say you reap what you sow. This is what you get when you wallow in the mire of the world of pit bulls, and the people who are attracted to pit bulls.

Mr. Gasior will be serving time for impersonating Homeland security agents, which gave him access to the private information of some well meaning students who wanted to help those poor maligned pit bulls, as well as other various scams on Craigslist.

"Gasior still has state charges that include impersonating a public employee and misrepresenting a sale as being for charity, according to court records.

On May 17, about three weeks after the FBI arrested him for the Craigslist scam, Gasior entered Brentwood High without permission and walked into classrooms telling faculty and staff that he was a Homeland Security agent, according to an arrest affidavit by Brentwood police Officer Gerald Mikelonis.
Gasior asked students if they were interested in donating money to Hello Bully, a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the reputation of pit bulls, police said. At least six students provided Gasior with their names, phone numbers and email addresses, police said."

Good News...The BIBLE SAVES!

Puddles the Angel Doggie

In my neighborhood, people walk with weapons.  I see an assortment of golf clubs and bats, there's likely pepper spray, knives, and guns hidden from view.  Apparently, there is a rash of accounts of people who no longer count on Animal Control or the Police to take care of errant pit bulls, and not just in my neighborhood:  people are taking up arms. Take your weapon when you go for the mail, isn't that ridiculous?  Welcome to Darfur!  Well, it is said, the Good Lord helps those who help themselves.

Be forewarned, however, those who live by the sword, die by the sword. In today's society, an act of self preservation can be viewed to be animal cruelty. Also, remember what happened to George Zimmerman, he originally purchased a handgun to protect himself and his wife from pit bulls running amok.

And then there is the man in Riverside California who shoved a hose down a pit bull named Puddles, and well, her name became an ironic and self fulfilling prophecy, and the man who was tired of dealing with this dog was cast as a horrible, wretched and cruel man.  The thing is, a normal dog would flee in such a deluge, but not the tenacious gripper, who was very pregnant at the time. I smell irresponsible pit bull owner, but the man who was protecting his dog was made out to be the bad guy.

I would also like to share the good news...the Bible can also SAVE in more ways than one!

This is an older media report, but I thought I would share it, since it is in keeping with the theme of this blog.  Besides, I found this groovy animated pit bull angel gif, and I had to share it with all of the faithful members our our congregation here at the First Church of Pit bulls, safety advocates and pit bull advocates alike.  Hey ya Pit Bull Tribe from Facebook...keep those break sticks AND the Bible handy! And for everyone else...may your angels be watching for you (and your dog)  when you go for a walk.....or may you be able  turn a pit bull into an angel.  God works in mysterious ways, so they say!

City View, TX (KFDX) - A 77-year-old grandmother is recovering after being attacked by two pit bulls in a neighborhood outside of Austin, Texas. Luckily, a few good Samaritans came to her rescue.
The blood stains spattered on the road speak of the vicious attack.
"It was horrible. It was horrible. She was just crying, 'Help me, help me.'"
"They could have killed her. And that would have just been devastating. it was devastating enough to see her so defenseless on the ground pleading for help."
"They just ripped her. They had a rip on her head from here to back there, they had cut her right there & they had sliced her arm so it swelled up. And they had our arm just tearing at it."
These three Jehovah's witnesses were visiting the neighborhood when they heard June O'Hara's screams and joined a college student, trying to fight off the dogs.
"He come and grabbed the stick and he started beating at the dogs and they were trying to bite and attack him."

The Jehovah's witnesses decided seek a little divine intervention.

"I actually threw two Bibles. And they did back up. They backed up when I threw the Bibles at em. so the Bibles did help."

Finally, as first responders arrived, the dogs released the victim. Animal Control captured both pit bulls. AMR took June to the hospital.
"She's a very nice lady. I don't know her - but she's somebody's mother, somebody's grandmother, somebody's friend."
"The first thing she said to me when we saw her in the ER was she didn't think she was going to live through it. She actually didn't think she was going to be alive after this."
June's son, Tim, got to meet the good Samaritan ladies.
"There were some tears of thanks and joy and stuff like that. I'll find a way to go to their church and thank em somehow - there's gotta be a way. But I wish I could find out who the young man was. He needs to be thanked, too."
Tim says he wants something done to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
"My mom says she'll never go out the house again to take a morning walk like she has for who knows how many years - can't think of how many years she's been doing it. So now that's gonna tie her up in the house, and every time she walks outside she's going to be looking over her shoulder."

O'Hara has been released from the hospital. She sustained 12 puncture wounds to the head and a deep bite on her stomach.
